Denim Pocket Crochet Bed Cover Pattern
You need to be comfortable with single crochet, half double crochet and working through fabric.
Each framed block takes under an hour, so you can finish a few every week.
Every square keeps its own back pocket, so no two blocks look alike.
About This Denim Pocket Crochet Bed Cover Pattern Pattern
This bed cover turns old jeans into a piece of home art. Each square of faded denim keeps its back pocket, gold stitching and rivet, and is framed with a cream round, two mustard rounds and an outer cream round of crochet. The blocks are joined in a neat grid with cream and finished with a scalloped edge.
The finished queen size is about 91 by 99 inches, and the pattern also includes two matching pillow shams. You will use single crochet and half double crochet worked through holes in the fabric, a slip stitch join and a shell edge. It suits crocheters who like mixing sewing and crochet.
Why You'll Love This Denim Pocket Crochet Bed Cover Pattern Pattern
I love that every block starts with a pair of jeans someone once wore. The pockets still hold their shape and the stitching still shines, so each square tells a little story.
It is also a wonderful gift for a new home or a graduation. You can crochet the frames anywhere, and the cover feels like a patchwork you can wrap around yourself.
Switch Things Up
Try rust and cream frames for a warmer look, or charcoal and white for a modern bedroom. Use a corduroy or shirt flannel center instead of denim. Make 6 blocks across and 7 rows long for a sofa throw of about 55 by 64 inches. Work a fourth frame round in a third color for a bolder border, or make one matching pillow cover for a chair.

Assembly Instructions
- Prepare all 122 denim centers, punching the 84 holes in each one before you start any crochet.
- Crochet the 4 frame rounds on every block, then block each framed block flat to about 8.8 inches square.
- Lay out the 110 cover blocks in 11 rows of 10 with pocket blocks and plain blocks in a checkerboard.
- Join the blocks into rows with slip stitches through the back loops of the cream outer stitches, then join the rows to each other the same way.
- Work the sc round and the shell round around the whole outer edge of the cover.
- For each sham, join 6 blocks in 3 across and 2 down, add the edge, then lay two back panels right sides together with the front, overlapping them by 4 inches.
- Join each sham with sc through both layers, turn it right side out and weave in all ends.
Common Mistakes & How to Fix Them
Skipping the interfacing lets the denim stretch and the frame ripples. Apply it before cutting every square.
Punching the holes unevenly makes the first round wavy. Mark all 84 holes with a ruler before you punch any.
Not pre-washing the denim can stain the cream yarn later. Wash it several times until the water runs clear.
Pulling the joins tight puckers the cover. Keep the slip stitch seams as loose as the frame stitches.
Important Notes
Gauge is 16 hdc in 4 inches, and each block should measure about 8.8 inches square. Make a test block first, because a different tension changes the finished size.
Yarn and denim amounts are estimates, so buy extra cotton from the same dye lot before you start.
Block every framed block before joining so all the squares match.
Wash the finished cover in cold water on a gentle cycle with a color catcher and dry it flat. Indigo can still bleed a little.
I hope this cover gives your old jeans a second life. Take it one square at a time and enjoy every pocket you uncover. I would love to see yours when it is done.
Crochet Abbreviations
You Ask, We Answer
What is the finished size of the bed cover?
The queen size cover is about 91 by 99 inches. It is made from 110 framed blocks in 11 rows of 10, plus the edge.
Can I use a different fabric or yarn weight?
Yes. Cotton shirting, corduroy or flannel works instead of denim, as long as you apply interfacing. A lighter yarn makes smaller blocks, so you will need more of them.
How do I wash and care for the finished cover?
Wash it in cold water on a gentle cycle with a color catcher, then dry it flat. Do not hang it wet, because the weight will stretch the blocks.
