About 12 to 16 hours, made one small piece at a time.
Soft powder blue with cute ghosts and pumpkins instead of dark colors.
About This Ghost and Pumpkin Halloween Table Runner Crochet Pattern Pattern
This Halloween table runner is made from six soft powder blue squares joined in one long row. It measures about 45 inches long and 7.5 inches wide. Three squares hold a little white ghost with black eyes, and three hold a round orange pumpkin with a black stem.
Every piece uses only single crochet, half double crochet and simple increases, so it suits a confident beginner. Because you make one square at a time, it is an easy project to carry along.
Why You'll Love This Ghost and Pumpkin Halloween Table Runner Crochet Pattern Pattern
I love how gentle this runner looks. Powder blue is such a calm color, and the white ghosts and orange pumpkins stand out without feeling scary.
I also love that you only work on one small square at a time. When you finish a pair, you can already picture it on the table.
Switch Things Up
Try a gray or lavender background for a moodier look, add tiny black bats on a few squares, swap the pumpkins for little white stars to make a winter version, or use thicker cotton and a larger hook for a bolder runner with fewer squares.

Assembly Instructions
- Weave in all loose ends on the six squares, the three ghosts, the three pumpkins and the three stems.
- Pin a ghost to the center of three squares and sew it down with white yarn using small whip stitches around the edge.
- Sew a black stem to the top center of each pumpkin, then pin and sew each pumpkin to the center of the other three squares with orange yarn.
- Lay the squares in one row in this order: ghost, pumpkin, ghost, pumpkin, ghost, pumpkin.
- Hold two squares with right sides together and sew them with a whip stitch through the back loops of the orange borders, then repeat for the remaining squares.
- Weave in the last ends, then block the whole runner flat to about 45 by 7.5 inches and let it dry completely.
Common Mistakes & How to Fix Them
Your square may drift narrow if you skip a stitch at the end of a row, so count to 28 after every few rows and remember the turning chain does not count.
The ghost hem can look flat if the hdc stitches land in the wrong place, so work them in the two middle stitches of each group of four.
The pumpkin may cup instead of lying flat when your tension is tight, so loosen up a little or block it flat before sewing.
Corners can look uneven when joining, so pin the four corners of each pair of squares first and then sew along the edge.
Important Notes
Keep your tension relaxed and even so the squares lie flat and stay about the same size.
Gauge does not need to be exact, but all six squares should match each other.
Blocking makes the squares and the finished runner lie flat and look neat.
Cotton yarn can be washed gently in cool water, then laid flat to dry.
I hope this little ghost and pumpkin runner brings a smile to your Halloween table. Happy hooking!
Crochet Abbreviations
You Ask, We Answer
How big is the finished runner?
About 45 inches long and 7.5 inches wide, made from six 7.5 inch squares.
Can I use a different yarn weight?
Yes. DK weight yarn with a 3.5 mm hook gives smaller squares, so add a few more squares to keep the length.
How do I wash it?
Wash gently in cool water, reshape it while damp and lay it flat to dry.
Success!
