About This Little Lamb Amigurumi Crochet Pattern Pattern

This little lamb stands about 6 inches tall in worsted yarn. He has a round head, floppy ears with a soft pink inside, a plump body and four short legs.

You will use a magic ring, increases, decreases and a bit of sewing. He suits anyone who has made a ball or a simple animal before.

Why You'll Love This Little Lamb Amigurumi Crochet Pattern Pattern

I love how a tiny embroidered nose and two brown eyes give him such a gentle face. The cream yarn looks like soft wool and shows off every stitch.

He also uses just one main color, so he is a great way to use up a leftover skein.

Switch Things Up

Make a black faced sheep with dark grey yarn, a pastel pink or mint lamb for spring, or a brown version for a little goat. You can also add a tiny bell on a ribbon, a flower crown or a soft bow around the neck.

Assembly Instructions

  1. Sew the head to the front of the body around Rounds 14 to 17, with the face looking slightly up.
  2. Sew a pink inner ear onto the front of each cream ear, then sew the ears to the sides of the head around Rounds 6 to 8, pointing out and slightly down.
  3. Sew the four legs under the body around Rounds 1 to 4, two at the front and two at the back, so he stands steadily.
  4. Check that the lamb stands on a flat surface and adjust the legs if he leans.
  5. Embroider the nose and mouth if you have not already, and weave in all ends.

Common Mistakes & How to Fix Them

Placing the eyes too far apart. Keep them about 7 sts apart so the lamb looks sweet, not surprised.

Stuffing the legs too much, which makes them stiff. Stuff them lightly so they sit flat.

Sewing the ears too high, which makes them look like horns. Place them on the sides, around Rounds 6 to 8.

Losing the start of the round. Move your stitch marker up every round.

Important Notes

Work in continuous spiral rounds without joining and use a stitch marker in the first stitch of every round.

Keep your tension snug so the stuffing does not show through. Gauge does not need to be exact.

For children under 3, embroider the eyes with black yarn instead of using safety eyes.

I hope you enjoy making your little lamb. Happy hooking, and tell me what colors you chose!

You Ask, We Answer

How big is the finished lamb?

About 6 inches tall in worsted yarn.

Can I use a different yarn weight?

Yes. Chunky yarn with a 5 mm hook makes a bigger lamb, and sport yarn with a 2.5 mm hook makes a smaller one.

Is it safe for children and can I wash it?

Embroider the eyes for children under 3. Spot clean gently with a damp cloth, or wash by hand and air dry.
