Sage and Cream Daisy Granny Square Bed Cover Crochet Pattern
You only need granny square rounds, a simple seam and a shell border.
Every square is portable, so you can work a few each week.
Little cream daisies on the sage squares make it feel like a garden quilt.
About This Sage and Cream Daisy Granny Square Bed Cover Crochet Pattern Pattern
This bed cover is made from 16 lace granny squares in sage and taupe, each framed in cream, set around one big center medallion worked in color bands. Eight cream daisies sit on the sage squares, and a cream shell border with a thin sage stripe finishes the edge.
It measures about 66 by 66 inches, which covers a full size bed as a generous topper with a soft drape. You need classic granny square rounds, single crochet, double crochet, a whipstitch seam and a shell edging. It suits anyone who has made a few granny squares and is ready for a big, cozy project.
Why You'll Love This Sage and Cream Daisy Granny Square Bed Cover Crochet Pattern Pattern
I love that this bed cover never feels like one huge project. You make a square, put it in the pile and start the next one. They travel well in a tote bag, and three calm colors keep the whole thing feeling relaxed.
The cream daisies are my favorite part. They take about ten minutes each, and they turn a plain sage square into the first thing everyone notices. It would make a lovely housewarming or wedding gift, too.
Switch Things Up
Try dusty blue, cream and warm gray for a cooler bedroom, or rust, cream and olive for fall. For a baby blanket, make only the center medallion and finish it with a plain cream single crochet border for a blanket about 38 inches square. For a bigger piece, add a few more rounds to the medallion, since each round adds about 1.2 inches. You can also skip the daisies for a calmer look, or make a few in taupe for the taupe squares.

Assembly Instructions
- Weave in all ends on the Granny Squares, the Center Medallion and the Daisy Flowers.
- Wet block the squares to about 12 inches and the medallion to about 36 inches, pinning them flat on blocking mats until dry.
- Sew one Daisy Flower to the center of each sage square with the cream tail.
- Lay everything out as shown in the Layout section, with the medallion in the middle and the 16 squares in a ring around it.
- With cream and a yarn needle, whipstitch the squares into four strips (5 squares for the top and bottom, 3 squares for each side), sewing through the back loops only and matching the corner sps first.
- Sew the two 3-square strips to the sides of the medallion, easing the medallion edge evenly, then sew the top and bottom strips on, pinning every 3 inches.
- Work the four Border rounds around the whole piece, then weave in the last ends and lightly steam the scallops flat.
Common Mistakes & How to Fix Them
Squares that drift in size: tension often changes when you switch colors, so measure every square after Round 10 and block it to 12 inches so the grid lines up.
Lost corners: every round needs 4 corner sps with (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc), so if a side looks too long or too short, compare your stitches with the counts at the end of each round.
Tight seams: a pulled whipstitch makes the bed cover stiff and cupped, so sew loosely and match the corner sps before you work along the seam.
Wrong border count: Border Round 1 needs 1 sc in each corner sp where two squares meet, and skipping them changes the 203 stitches per side that the scallops depend on.
Important Notes
Gauge: each Granny Square should measure about 12 inches after blocking and the medallion about 36 inches. If yours are smaller, go up a hook size, and if larger, go down one.
Blocking: wet block cotton pieces flat and let them dry fully, because it evens out the stitches and makes joining much easier.
Yarn amounts are estimates and depend on your tension, so buy extra of each color from the same dye lot.
Washing: check your yarn label, but cotton usually does well machine washed cold on a gentle cycle and dried flat or tumbled on low.
Thank you for stitching this one with me. I hope it ends up on a favorite bed with a few daisies keeping you company. I would love to see the colors you choose.

Yes. Use any yarn and a matching hook, then add or remove rounds until each square measures about 12 inches and the medallion about 36 inches. Yardage will change, so buy extra.
How do I wash it?
Follow your yarn label. Cotton usually does well machine washed cold on a gentle cycle, then dried flat or tumbled on low. Test a swatch first if you are unsure.
