About This Daisy Garden Table Runner Crochet Pattern Pattern

This table runner is an open lace net covered with cream crochet daisies, each with a golden center, and olive green leaves along both edges. It measures about 14 inches wide and 44 inches long after blocking. The net is a simple mesh of double crochet and chain spaces, and the daisies and leaves are made separately and sewn on.

The daisies come in three sizes, so you can place the biggest ones at the ends and in the middle and fill the gaps with the smaller ones. It suits a crocheter who is comfortable with sc, hdc and dc.

Why You'll Love This Daisy Garden Table Runner Crochet Pattern Pattern

I love how each daisy is a small project of its own. You can make one in an evening and see the runner grow.

The golden centers against the cream petals and the green leaves make me smile every time I walk past the table.

Switch Things Up

Try pink petals with a soft yellow center for spring, or white daisies on a pale blue net for a summer table. You can make fewer net spaces for a shorter runner or a coffee table. For autumn, use rust petals with brown leaves. A thicker cotton and a 4 mm hook gives larger daisies, so you will need fewer of them.

Assembly Instructions

  1. Pin the Lace Net Strip flat on blocking mats, spritz it with water, shape the spaces square and let it dry completely.
  2. Block the daisies and leaves the same way, pulling the petals out gently so they lie flat.
  3. Lay the net on a table and arrange the 3 Large Daisies along it, with one near each end and one in the middle, letting them overlap the edges a little.
  4. Place the 4 Medium Daisies between the large ones, alternating sides, then add the 6 Small Daisies near the edges and the ends.
  5. Sew each daisy to the net with the yarn needle, working a few small stitches under the center and around the base of the petals.
  6. Tuck the 12 Leaves under the daisies along both edges and sew them in place with their tails.
  7. Weave in all the remaining ends and press the finished runner lightly with a cool iron over a cloth.

Common Mistakes & How to Fix Them

Uneven chain spaces make the net wavy, so keep every ch 5 the same length and count 36 spaces at the end of each row.

Forgetting the last dc in the 3rd ch of the turning ch makes the edges of the net pull in, so always work it.

Petals that curl up can be fixed by blocking, so pin each daisy flat and let it dry before sewing.

Sewing the daisies on before blocking the net makes the net shrink unevenly, so always block the pieces first.

Important Notes

Gauge does not need to be exact, but your chains should be relaxed so the net lies flat.

Blocking opens the net and shapes the petals, so please do not skip it.

Hand wash gently in cool water, press out the water in a towel and lay the runner flat to dry.

I hope you enjoy making this runner as much as I did. Take it one daisy at a time, and show me your garden when it is finished. Happy hooking!

You Ask, We Answer

How big is the finished table runner?

About 14 inches wide and 44 inches long after blocking, using DK cotton and a 3.25 mm hook.

Can I use a different yarn weight?

Yes. Worsted weight with a 4 mm hook makes larger daisies and a wider net, so you can use fewer daisies. You may need to change the number of net spaces for the length you want.

How do I wash this runner?

Hand wash in cool water, press out the water in a towel and lay it flat to dry. Reshape the daisies while it is damp.
