Pink Butterfly Lace Table Runner Crochet Pattern
Worked with sc, inc, dec and simple chain space lace, no tricky stitches.
About 20 to 26 hours, stitched one small motif at a time.
Pink spirals, cream lace and three butterflies make a gift people keep for years.
About This Pink Butterfly Lace Table Runner Crochet Pattern Pattern
This table runner measures about 34 inches long and 13 inches wide. Eight pink spiral discs are each framed by a cream lace web, then joined in a gentle zigzag. Round cream bobble beads edge the whole piece, and three 3D butterflies in pink, cream and burgundy rest on top.
You will use sc, increases and decreases, and chain space lace worked in the round. It suits a confident maker who is ready for a lace project, and it looks lovely on a coffee table, dining table or sideboard.
Why You'll Love This Pink Butterfly Lace Table Runner Crochet Pattern Pattern
I love how the pink ombre discs glow against the cream lace. The lace looks complicated, but it is only a few rounds of chains and single crochet repeated around each disc.
The butterflies are my favorite part. Each one is made from simple oval wings, so you can finish one in an evening and watch the runner come to life.
Switch Things Up
Try a blue ombre disc with white butterflies for a calm look, or lavender and cream for a soft gift. You can use a pale yellow lace with orange discs for a sunny table. Make fewer modules for a short runner, or skip the butterflies for a simpler lace version.

Assembly Instructions
- Block the 8 pink discs with their cream lace rings, the wings, the bodies and the antennae. Pin each lace ring out flat and spritz with water so the chain spaces open into a web, then let everything dry fully.
- Lay the first lace ring on your work surface and overlay the next ring so the edges overlap by about 2 inches. Shift each new ring a little to the left or right so the line zigzags gently.
- Pin the overlapping edges together and whipstitch through the Round 6 stitches with cream yarn. Repeat until all 8 modules are joined in one long chain.
- Sew the bobble beads along the outer edge of the runner, one bead to about every third stitch of Round 6. Use the tails and add a second knot underneath so the beads stay firm.
- For each butterfly, sew the 2 upper wings and 2 lower wings to the sides of a body, with the upper wings pointing up and the lower wings pointing down. Sew the 2 antennae to the top of the head.
- Place the 3 butterflies on top of the 2nd, 4th and 6th lace rings, then sew the body and the wing tips to the lace with a few small stitches so they sit in place.
- Turn the runner over, weave in all ends and secure any loose lace loops. Steam or spritz lightly, add starch if you like a crisper look, and dry the runner flat.
Common Mistakes & How to Fix Them
Working the chain spaces too tightly makes the lace ring cup upward, so keep your chains loose and block each ring flat.
Skipping the increase counts in the disc rounds makes the disc ripple, so check the stitch count at the end of every round.
Stuffing the bobble beads too loosely leaves them flat, so pack a small ball of fiberfill into each one.
Leaving the butterfly wings unblocked makes them curl, so pin them flat and spritz them before sewing.
Important Notes
Cotton yarn holds lace and beads best, but any worsted weight yarn works if you block it well.
Gauge does not need to be exact, but your lace rings should be able to overlap by about 2 inches, so make one module first and adjust the overlap if needed.
Hand wash gently in cool water, reshape the lace and dry flat. Do not wring the runner.
I hope this runner makes your table feel a little more special. Take your time, enjoy each motif and happy hooking!
Crochet Abbreviations
You Ask, We Answer
How big is the finished runner?
About 34 inches long and 13 inches wide in worsted weight cotton with a 3.5 mm hook. Add or remove modules to change the length.
Can I use a different yarn weight?
Yes. Thinner cotton gives a more delicate lace and a smaller runner, while thicker yarn gives a bolder look. Make one module first to check the size.
How do I wash it?
Hand wash gently in cool water with mild soap, press out the water with a towel and dry it flat. Re-pin the lace rings while damp if you want them to keep a crisp shape.
