Teal and Blue Medallion Square Bed Cover Crochet Pattern
You need double crochet, simple mesh and clean color changes.
Each 12 inch square takes about 4 hours, so the cover grows in small steps.
Teal, royal blue and gold give a calm bedroom a jewel tone centerpiece.
About This Teal and Blue Medallion Square Bed Cover Crochet Pattern Pattern
This bed cover is made from 64 medallion squares. Each square starts with a royal blue and gold circle, then grows through teal double crochet rounds and two open gold mesh rounds. A tan gold edging outlines every square.
It measures about 100 by 100 inches before the edge and about 103 by 103 inches with it, so it reaches near the floor on a queen bed. It suits crocheters who are comfortable with double crochet and color changes and who want a long, rewarding project.
Why You'll Love This Teal and Blue Medallion Square Bed Cover Crochet Pattern Pattern
I love a project made of small pieces. Each square has its own little circle at the center, so I get the fun of a new start every few hours, and I can carry one in my bag.
I also love how the gold outlines frame every square. The deep teal looks calm by day and rich by lamp light.
Switch Things Up
Try burgundy with ivory and gold, navy with sky blue, or forest green with cream. For a sofa throw, make 4 x 5 squares (about 50 x 62 inches). Join two squares for a matching pillow cover. For a lighter look, skip the shell edge and finish with a single round of sc in gold.

Assembly Instructions
- Make all 64 medallion squares and weave in the ends.
- Wet block each square to about 12.5 x 12.5 inches and let it dry flat, so every square is the same size.
- Lay the squares out in 8 columns and 8 rows and check the colors from square to square.
- Whip stitch 8 squares into a strip through the back loops with gold yarn, and repeat to make 8 strips.
- Join the 8 strips with 7 long seams, stitching the 4 corner centers together at every crossing.
- Work Round E1 evenly around the whole cover, placing 3 sc in each outer corner.
- Work Round E2 to add the shell scalloped edge, then weave in the last ends and give the cover a light final block.
Common Mistakes & How to Fix Them
Losing count in the mesh rounds shifts the corners. In Round 8 count 7 dc and 6 ch-1 sps on each side, and in Round 11 count 13 dc and 12 ch-1 sps.
Squares of different sizes make the seams ripple. Block every square to the same size and measure Round 14 at 41 dc per side.
Pulling the gold edging tight makes the squares curl. Keep Rounds 15 and 16 loose and flat.
Joining with a tight seam makes the cover stiff. Stitch the seams loosely, about as tight as the stitches themselves.
Important Notes
Gauge: 41 dc across Round 14 measures about 12 inches, and the finished square with the gold edging is about 12.5 inches.
Yarn amounts are estimates. Weigh your first square and multiply by 64 before you buy the rest.
Dark teal and blue can bleed onto the light gold. Wash a swatch first, use a color catcher for the first wash and dry the finished cover flat.
Take it one square at a time and enjoy every circle. I would love to see your bed cover when it is done.
Crochet Abbreviations
You Ask, We Answer
How big is the finished bed cover?
It is about 100 x 100 inches before the edge and about 103 x 103 inches with the edge. That gives a drop of about 20 inches at the sides and foot on a queen bed.
Can I use a different yarn weight or make a smaller size?
Yes. A lighter yarn makes a smaller square, so swatch one first and recalculate the number of squares. For a throw, make 4 x 5 squares and adjust the edge so each side divides by 6.
How do I wash and care for the cover?
Wash a swatch first to check for bleeding. Then use cold water, a gentle cycle and a color catcher, or hand wash, and lay the cover flat to dry.
Success!
