Orange and Green Flower Motif Bed Cover Crochet Pattern
Simple stitches in rounds, joined as you go.
A long project made one motif at a time.
Each motif has white petals, orange petals and a scalloped green edge.
About This Orange and Green Flower Motif Bed Cover Crochet Pattern Pattern
This bed cover is made of 210 round flower motifs. Each one has a white five-petal center, five bright orange petals and a soft green scalloped round. The motifs are joined at the green lobes as you crochet the last round, which leaves small open gaps between them.
The finished size is about 91 by 98 inches, and the outer lobes make a scalloped edge with no extra border. You will use single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet and treble crochet, plus a simple join. It suits anyone who has made flower motifs before and wants a big, cheerful project.
Why You'll Love This Orange and Green Flower Motif Bed Cover Crochet Pattern Pattern
I love that you finish a whole flower in an evening. Every motif is small enough to carry anywhere, and the colors are so bright that they make a bedroom feel sunny.
Joining as you go means there is almost no sewing at the end. When the last motif is joined, the bed cover is done and the edge is already finished.
Switch Things Up
Try these changes: use yellow petals with a pale blue edge, swap the white center for cream, make 3 by 3 motifs for a pillow cover of about 19 inches, make 6 by 8 motifs for a baby blanket, or make 8 by 10 motifs for a throw.

Assembly Instructions
- Weave in the ends of Rounds 1 to 6 on every motif as you finish it, but keep the green tail of Round 7 until after the motif is joined.
- Block each motif before joining. Pin it to 6.5 inches across and spray with water so all 210 motifs match.
- Lay out 14 motifs across and 15 down, with lobe 1 at the top of every motif so all the motifs face the same way.
- Make the first motif of Row 1, then join the following motifs in the last round as written, left to right, matching lobe 16 to lobe 6.
- Start each new row by joining motif 1 to the motif above at lobe 1, then continue across, joining at lobes 16 and 1.
- When the last motif is joined, weave in all the green tails and check that every join is secure.
- Block the finished cover lightly, pinning out the scalloped edge so the lobes lie evenly.
Common Mistakes & How to Fix Them
Joining to the wrong lobe. Mark lobe 1 with a stitch marker, and always join lobe 16 to the left motif and lobe 1 to the motif above, so the motifs stay in a straight grid.
Working Round 4 in front of the white petals. Work behind them, or the orange loops will cover the white center.
Skipping the blocking. Unblocked motifs curl, vary in size and make the joins pucker, so block every motif to 6.5 inches.
Changing the stitch counts in Round 6. The 80 sc in Round 6 is what makes 20 even lobes in Round 7, so count it before you continue.
Important Notes
Sizes, stitch counts and yardage are estimated from the photo, so make one test motif and check that it measures about 6.5 inches before you make all 210.
Bright orange and white can bleed or shift when washed with a green yarn, so wash gently in cool water with a color catcher.
Block each motif and the finished cover. Blocking is what opens the petals and makes the joins lie flat.
I hope you enjoy making these little flowers as much as I enjoyed designing them. Take it one motif at a time, and send me a photo when your bed cover is finished.
Crochet Abbreviations
You Ask, We Answer
What size is the finished bed cover?
It is about 91 by 98 inches, made of 14 by 15 motifs, and the scalloped lobes form the edge. Use fewer motifs for a throw or a baby blanket.
Can I use a different yarn weight or hook size?
Yes, but the motif size will change, so make a test motif first, measure it, and divide your bed size by that number to find how many motifs you need.
How do I wash and care for the cover?
Wash on a gentle cycle in cool water with a color catcher, reshape while damp and dry flat. Do not wring it, because the petals and lobes can stretch.
