Navy and Cream Flower Square Bedspread Crochet Pattern
You should be comfortable working in rounds, making petals and joining squares.
Each square takes about an hour, so you can make this bedspread one small piece at a time.
A chunky navy flower in every cream square and a long tassel fringe give it a classic, cozy look.
About This Navy and Cream Flower Square Bedspread Crochet Pattern Pattern
This bedspread is made from 84 cream squares, each with a chunky navy four-petal flower and a small cream ring in the center. The sides of every square are open and lacy, which lets the navy flower stand out.
The squares are joined with a flat slip stitch seam that leaves a neat ridge. A lacy mesh band and a row of cream tassels finish the edge. It measures about 51 by 86 inches, which covers a twin bed with a drop on each side, or sits as a coverlet on a larger bed. It suits crocheters who enjoy working in rounds and like a long project made in small pieces.
Why You'll Love This Navy and Cream Flower Square Bedspread Crochet Pattern Pattern
I love a project I can carry around. Each square is small, so I made mine in the evenings on the sofa and on the bus, and watched the pile grow.
The navy flowers are my favorite part. Against the cream they look bold but calm, and the tassels at the end make the whole bed feel finished. It is a bedspread I can see myself keeping for years.
Switch Things Up
Try a soft gray flower on a white background, a mustard flower on cream, or a dusty blue flower on gray. For a throw, make 7 squares across and 7 down, which is about 51 by 51 inches. For a table runner, make 2 squares across and 7 down. Make a matching pillow cover from 8 squares, 4 across and 2 down. Keep the number of squares in each direction at 2, 7 or 12 so the tassel spacing stays even.

Assembly Instructions
- Weave in all ends and block each of the 84 squares to about 7 inches.
- Lay the squares out in 12 rows of 7, with every flower in the same direction.
- Join the squares into 12 strips of 7 with a slip stitch seam through the BLO of both squares, using A.
- Join the 12 strips with the same slip stitch seam, matching the corner centers where four squares meet.
- Work Border Rnd 1 in sc around the whole bedspread, with sc2tog over every seam and 3 sc in each outer corner.
- Work Border Rnd 2 in mesh, with a corner of (dc, ch 3, dc) at each outer corner.
- Make the tassels and attach them to the mesh edge, then block the finished bedspread flat in sections.
Common Mistakes & How to Fix Them
Making the ch-7 loops in Rnd 4 different lengths. Keep them even so the four windows end up the same size.
Miscounting Rnd 6. Each side should have 19 sts between the corner spaces, or the squares will not lie flat.
Making squares in different sizes. Block every square to the same size before you join anything.
Changing the number of squares without checking the border. The tassels only fall evenly with 2, 7 or 12 squares in each direction.
Important Notes
Each square should measure about 7 inches after blocking. If yours are smaller, go up a hook size.
The finished bedspread measures about 51 by 86 inches without the tassels, which add about 4 inches. Cotton is heavy, so expect about 2.4 kg.
Wash cold on a gentle cycle with a color catcher, because the navy yarn can bleed onto the cream. Dry flat.
Yarn amounts are estimates, so buy a little extra.
Thank you for crocheting along with me. Make one square, see how the navy flower pops against the cream, and I think you will be hooked.
Crochet Abbreviations
You Ask, We Answer
What size is the finished bedspread?
About 51 by 86 inches with 7 by 12 squares and the border, plus 4 inch tassels. It covers a twin bed with a drop on each side.
Can I use a different yarn weight?
Yes. Use a lighter yarn and a smaller hook for smaller squares, then make more squares to reach the same size. Keep 2, 7 or 12 squares in each direction so the tassels stay evenly spaced.
How do I wash it?
Wash cold on a gentle cycle with a color catcher and lay it flat to dry. Cotton is heavy when wet, so support it in your arms when you lift it.
