Pink and White Spiral Motif Bed Cover Crochet Pattern
Stitches of different heights make the swirl, then simple lace rounds follow.
A long project made one motif at a time.
A solid rose spiral opens into white lace, joined as you go.
About This Pink and White Spiral Motif Bed Cover Crochet Pattern Pattern
This bed cover is made of 72 round spiral motifs. Each one starts with a solid rose-pink swirl, then opens into white lace rounds and finishes with a pale pink outer round. The motifs are joined at four points as you crochet the last round, which leaves small open gaps between them.
The finished size is about 93 by 102 inches with the picot shell edge. You will use single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, treble crochet and chain loops. It suits anyone who has made motifs before and wants a big project with a showy result.
Why You'll Love This Pink and White Spiral Motif Bed Cover Crochet Pattern Pattern
I love watching the swirl appear. The stitches get taller around each round, and a flat little circle turns into a spiral that looks much harder than it is.
Every motif is small enough to carry anywhere, and joining as you go means there is almost no sewing at the end. It makes a bedroom feel soft and romantic, and it is a lovely gift for a wedding or a new home.
Switch Things Up
Try these changes: work the swirl in lavender or sage with a white lace edge, use a deep teal swirl on cream for a bolder look, make 4 by 5 motifs for a baby blanket of about 44 by 55 inches, make 5 by 6 motifs for a throw, make 2 by 2 motifs for a pillow cover, or use a single color for a quiet bedroom.

Assembly Instructions
- Weave in the ends of Rounds 1 to 9 on every motif as you finish it, then block each motif to 11 inches across before you start joining.
- Lay out 8 motifs across and 9 down, with loop 1 at the top of every motif so all the spirals turn the same way.
- Make the first motif of Row 1, then make each following motif and join it in Round 10 to the motif on its left, matching loop 19 to loop 7.
- Start each new row with motif 1 joined to the motif above at loop 1, then continue across, joining at loops 19 and 1.
- When the last motif is joined, weave in all the ends and check that every join is secure.
- Work the picot shell edge down the left side, across the foot and up the right side, following Rounds 1 to 3 of the edge pattern.
- Block the finished cover lightly, pinning out the shells and picots so the edge lies evenly.
Common Mistakes & How to Fix Them
Joining the spiral rounds and losing the swirl. Rounds 1 to 5 are worked in a continuous spiral, so use a stitch marker and move it up at the start of every round.
Joining to the wrong loop. Hold every motif with loop 1 at the top, and always join loop 19 to the left motif and loop 1 to the motif above, so the grid stays straight.
Skipping the blocking. Unblocked motifs curl and vary in size, and the joins pucker, so block every motif to 11 inches across.
Changing the stitch count of the edge. The 855 sc in Round 1 is what makes the 171 shells fit, so count the sc once with markers before you start Round 2.
Important Notes
Sizes, stitch counts and yardage are estimated from the photo, so make one test motif and check that it measures about 11 inches before you make all 72.
Block each motif and the finished cover. Blocking is what opens the lace and lets the spiral lie flat.
Rose pink and white yarns can bleed when washed together, so wash gently in cool water with a color catcher and lay the cover flat to dry.
I hope you enjoy watching the swirls appear as much as I did. Take it one motif at a time, add the edge last, and send me a photo when your bed cover is finished.
Crochet Abbreviations
You Ask, We Answer
What size is the finished bed cover?
It is about 93 by 102 inches with the picot shell edge, made of 8 by 9 motifs. Use fewer motifs for a throw or a baby blanket.
Can I use a different yarn weight or hook size?
Yes, but the motif size will change, so make a test motif first, measure it, and divide your bed size by that number to find how many motifs you need.
How do I wash and care for the cover?
Wash on a gentle cycle in cool water with a color catcher, reshape while damp and dry flat. Do not wring it, because the lace loops can stretch.
